Kari Kairamo Of Nokia (1932-1988)

Born in Espoo, Finland, he was a chairman and CEO of Nokia Corporation. Kari Kairamo was born into a wealthy family, and he was an energetic, charismatic, hardworking person.

Kari Kairamo took charge of Nokia in 1977. Nokia’s entry into high technology field began in the 1980s, when the CEO Kari Kairamo took the helm. He favored an active foreign policy for Finland, and as early as 1987 supported the country’s entry into European Union.

He transformed Nokia from a diversified industrial conglomerate into an electronics concern. His main objective was to create Nokia into a European technology concern.

Nokia was Europe’s third-largest TV manufacturing company by the late 1980s and its market value had tripled. By that time Nokia was the largest company in Finland.
